The Faculty of Pharmacy—University of Kufa held a symposium titled “A Clinical Study of Major Beta-Thalassemia Patients through Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP2), Interleukin 8 (IL-8), and Oxidative-Antioxidant Status.”
It aimed to investigate the measurement of various parameters in primary beta-thalassemia patients to determine the changes in bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) and interleukin 8 (IL-8) levels.
It included describing the changes that occur in the most critical oxidative factors in the body, such as determining the total oxidative status (TOS) and measuring malondialdehyde (MDA) levels,
and describing antioxidant factors, which include measuring the total antioxidant capacity (TAC), determining tocopherol (vitamin E) levels, and determining glutathione (GSH) levels.
