The 2nd International Conference on Neuromuscular Disease

Professor Dr. Haydar Kadhem Hassoun, a faculty member at the Faculty of Medicine- University of Kufa, participated in the proceedings of the Second World Conference on Neuromuscular Disease.

Dr. Hassoun’s participation included delivering a scientific lecture. In his presentation, he detailed the development of the first diagnostic protocol of its kind in Iraq and the region for Pompe disease, a rare inherited neuromuscular disorder.

The first diagnosed adult case of this disease in Iraq was registered at the Middle Euphrates Neuroscience Center; the patient is currently undergoing regular enzyme replacement therapy.
