The Faculty of Pharmacy – University of Kufa held a symposium”The Role of Natural Killer Cells in the Innate Immune Response”.
It aims to:
*To raise awareness about the importance of natural killer cells in the innate immune response.
*To highlight their role in defending the body against cancer and viral infections.
It concluded to :
*Natural killer cells are large granular lymphocytes capable of developing natural cytotoxicity against cancer cells without prior exposure.
*They are the first group of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) and respond quickly of pathogenic challenges.
*Natural killer cells are known for killing virus-infected cells and detecting and controlling early signs of cancer.
