The Faculty of Political Science- University of Kufa held a symposium, “People with Special Needs and How to Deal with Them.”
It included a lecture on the definition of people with special needs, who are a group of individuals who need special treatment as a result of their disability, which prevents them from living their lives like healthy people.
The World Health Organization defines people with special needs as those who suffer from a deficiency in the individual’s physical or mental abilities, and the reason for this is due to genetic or environmental factors.
It concluded by defining the rules for dealing with people with special needs. These rules include:
*Treating people with special needs with respect and dignity.
*Accommodating their needs and limitations.
*Not making assumptions about their abilities.
*Encouraging their independence and self-reliance.
